Danielle's Tests
Lung CAT Scan
The only true way to diagnose LAM is through a CAT scan. Danielle had this test done in December. Figure A shows the location of the lungs and airways in the body. The inset image shows a cross-section of a healthy lung. Figure B shows a view of the lungs with LAM and a collapsed lung (pneumothorax). The inset image shows a cross-section of a lung with LAM.

Here is a sample picture of the coloring of a 'normal lung' - just use this as an example of COLOR and contrast it to Danielle's images below. Note the 'smooth' appearance in the 'normal lung' as compared to the black spots throughout Danielle's lungs.

These are a few images from Danielle's tests done in December 2008.


As you can see from the scans above, the 'cysts' are throughout her lungs, this is what causes her shortness of breath. The cysts block the lungs from working properly.
